The Heat is On!

In order to get the longest life out of ALL  of your heavy duty CASE and Toro equipment, be sure to practice the following tips in the steamy months ahead:

  • Be kind to your equipment. Try to plan your workday around the coolest hours of the day and give machines an extra couple of minutes to cool down at the end of the workday.
  • Keep it clean! Dirt and mud build-up mean your equipment will run too hot and this means decreased efficiency. Clean it off. Every time. Train your crew on the importance of this so they will do the same.
  • Baby your off-season equipment. Drain fuel tanks or shut off fuel lines of your machines heading to seasonal storage.
  • Check and adjust fluid levels more frequently in the summer months and keep radiators free of dirt and debris. The best way to clean your radiator is with an air compressor, not a water hose.
  • Carry a Planned Maintenance Agreement with Contractor’s Machinery. The endless days of sculpting and weeding are long gone in the landscaping industry. The homeowner wants to be able to open his backdoor and say, “ahhhhhh,” like he has stepped into a weeklong vacation. Today’s customer wants eco-friendly, natural, and low-maintenance…and this means the right Toro/CASE excavation tools to get the job done!

Five landscaping trends that achieve the “ahhhh” factor:

  1. Eco-friendly – There is respect for our natural environment today more than ever before.Customers want garden plants to blend together to form unique transitions in textures and color. Although the landscape can often take tremendous landscaping labor, the end result should incorporate native grasses, plants and shrubs to produce a serene environment that no one would ever suspect didn’t happen naturally. A great attachment for your hard-working CASE skid steer loader or CASE compact track loader is our mulcher. CASE is introducing a new mulcher-head attachment that is built for performance and durability. This heavy-duty mulching and land performance platform is in stock now – just in time for landscaping season. Compatible with CASE skid steers and compact track loaders, the attachment ships standard with high flow (HF) configuration and can be easily converted at the dealership for use with enhanced high flow (EHF) hydraulics systems on 90-HP+ machines.

Built with heavy duty materials, the mulcher is ideal for land clearing, site prep, removing trees and brush and trail maintenance applications. It features a variable two-speed motor that automatically adjusts the motor displacement to maximize rotor speed and torque to changing material loads.

Trench fatalities and injuries pose serious risk in construction, so trench safety must be a top-priority at any jobsite. Statistics from the Bureau of Labor show that an average of 25 workers are tragically killed in trench-related accidents each year, with cave-ins being responsible for 75% of these unfortunate, but preventable deaths. Trench collapses cause hundreds of worker injuries each year, all equally preventable.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), here are some other proven and effective ways of preventing hazards during trench and excavation related work:

  • Slope it: Sloping and benching – Slope or bench trench walls by cutting back the wall at an angle inclined away from the excavation. With this protective system, workers can prevent a cave-in and save lives.
  • Shore it: Hydraulic Shoring – Shore trench walls by installing aluminum hydraulic or other types of supports to prevent soil movement or cave-in.
  • Shield it: Protective Shielding – Shield trench walls by using trench boxes or other types of supports to prevent soil cave-ins.
